About The Blog

Welcome!

Hey! Thank you so much for checking out this blog. To be honest it was something I started late one Saturday night, while I was most likely procrastinating a paper for Grad school.

So here is my story. I am currently a Preschool Special Education teacher while also coaching high school softball. Both of these are careers I am so passionate about! However, they will most likely not be the topic of many blog posts.

You see, I started a graduate program in Special Education:Applied Behavior Analysis in January of 2018 at Arizona State University. This program has completely changed my life and my whole way of thinking. I will finish up my coursework this August, graduate, and hopefully sit for the BCBA exam next spring. For those of you who don't know, a BCBA is a board certified behavior analyst. BCBA's typically focus on applied behavior analysis. ABA refers to a set of principles that focuses on how behaviors change, how we learn, and how our behavior is affected by our environment. Most often BCBA's are seen working in the field of Autism supervising ABA programming. Be that as it may, there are many other applications for this knowledge.

As a hopeful future BCBA, I am still finding the avenue I would like to take to spread these principles into the world. This blog will most likely revolve around my current class for the next 7 weeks. This class is inspiring me to broaden my view of Applied Behavior Analysis. The topics we are covering have nothing to do with the avenue of Special Education. Instead, we are learning about: sustainability in the environment, entrepreneurship, social responsibilities, addiction (gambling, drugs, alcohol, sex), mental health, crime, delinquency, forensics, health-sports-fitness, gerontology, feeding, technology, robotics, arts, and applied animal behavior.

If you have a topic you find really interesting, send me a message! I would love to relay any of the research and information I find in the upcoming weeks. Be on the lookout, I'm sure to have more topics that inspire me.
